October 31st!

Today is a day many celebrate Halloween, a celebration fraught with unhealthy and unholy activities. Here is an interesting link if you are interested in the origins of Halloween:

https://www.history.com/topics/halloween/history-of-halloween

Are you aware that on this day in history Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the Wittenberg Castle Church door igniting the Protestant Reformation [1517] which among other things reconstituted the Biblical truth of the priesthood of all believers, and nearly 400 years later [1904] Evan Roberts ignited the Welsh Revival which in turned spawned other mighty moves of God?

As Christians, we should celebrate these and other kingdom activities instead of Halloween. What if our children were taught Christian history, revival history, the testimony of God’s activities in the earth instead of partnering with a celebration that glorifies pagan practices.

Psalms 66 – “1 Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; 2 Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. 3 Say to God, ‘How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You. 4 All the earth will worship You, and will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name.’ Selah.5 Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men. 6 He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him!7 He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.”

In this text we are invited, encouraged to publicly, enthusiastically and demonstratively glorify God, as well as to “come and see the works of God.”

These works were hundreds of years prior to this invitation. What were they, and we, supposed to see? God’s deliverance out of Egypt [land of darkness] and His deliverance into the land of Promise.

We learn:

  • God did all the work to get His people out of the land of darkness – “He turned the sea into dry land.”
  • His people had to do the work of entering into the land of darkness at great risk [the Jordan was at flood stage] – “They passed through the river on foot.”
  • It is at the place of greatest risk [our entering into our land of Promise [Divine purpose for our lives] that we are to rejoice in Him.
  • God never delivers anyone out of a place that He does not want them entering into a much better place. The question is will we do what God requires of us to do to enter that place.

So, October 31 – will it be a day to participate in the deeds of darkness or grow more in the Light?

Ephesians 5 – “6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.”

If you are a Biblical Christian living Biblical Christianity and participate in Halloween activities, it should be for the sole purpose of advancing God’s Light [Jesus] into the areas of darkness you venture into. If not, you are partnering with darkness and the prince who rules that domain!

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” – not candy! Sweet!

Receive and steward God’s passion, power, presence, priority, process, promises, protection, provision, pruning, purging, purity and purpose!

The Way!

Jesus said of Himself, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Jesus is the way to what?

To the truth! Jesus perfectly revealed who the Father really is.

To the life! Jesus perfectly revealed how to live the life the Father wills for us to live.

To the Father! Jesus perfectly revealed the only way to a right relationship with His Father.

This reveals a tremendous amount of vital information most of which I will not cover in this blog. Please consider:

His Father said, “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well-pleased!” This was said before Jesus launched Christianity, and after His water and Spirit baptism. Before those two pivotal events in Jesus’ life He lived a life of submission to His Father by being submitted to his earthly father and his mother.

“51 And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Jesus “kept increasing in favor with God.” You read that right! Jesus, from His conception to His public affirmation, and right on through to the Cross kept increasing in favor with His Father.

Jesus demonstrated for thirty years a surrendered life to God’s will, enduring much hardship.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

What He endured prepared Him for the arduous task of dying for the world, which was the main mission He was assigned.

He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Do you see how Jesus humbled Himself? “By becoming obedient.” This was an ongoing process, not by a one time act. Jesus remained in right relationship with His Father throughout His entire life by continually oebying Him.

“I am the way” also means claiming to be a Christian must go beyond saying what we believe to showing others what we believe. Jesus went beyond saying He loved and was rightly related to His Father. He demonstrated it daily in every area of His life.

You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

To shudder means – to stand up straight; to tremble; to be struck with extreme fear.

Does your belief in God cause you to shudder? If not, your belief has not yet reached the level of devils.

“I am the way” also means those of us who say we believe in Jesus must lead others to a right relationship with Jesus, who leads us to His Father.

Paul said this, “Follow me, as I follow Christ.” The NAS and NKJ translate this verse this way, “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”

We can interpret this verse several ways:

  • If you follow me I will lead you to Christ
    • This is authentic Christian discipleship
    • Paul forsook all to follow Christ just like Christ forsook heaven to come to earth so that mankind could forsake earth to gain heaven
      • “7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ.”
  • If you imitate my life your life will look like Christ because my life is like His
    • Not that Paul was a perfect man but Paul perfected his passion to live like Christ on purpose in fulfilling his assigned mission from God
      • “King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision.”

In the Book of Acts Christianity is called “the Way” six times, “the way[s] of the Lord[God]” three times, and “the way of salvation” one time. That makes perfect sense to me since Christianity if about the life and ministry of the One who called Himself, “the Way!”

Who are you following and where are they really leading you?

Who are you leading and where are you really leading them?

Are you in His Way or are you in His way?

Receive and steward God’s passion, power, presence, priority, process, promises, protection, provision, pruning, purging, purity and purpose!

People of Purpose, Purity and Power

Now, more than ever, is the time for God’s people to be people of purpose, living on purpose for the sole purpose of fulfilling God’s purpose for giving them His life. Two ways to ensure that happens is by living in purity and power.

All of the New Testament writers, in one way or another, spoke into the importance of this truth. And the truths they wrote about are timeless, speaking into every generation of people who read and heed their wise counsel.

Jesus, who is heaven’s model and our role-model for all life and ministry, is the Author and Perfecter of this life of faithful obedience to the Father.

May wife Donna and I have a call on our lives that in part is to train, equip, and activate maturing saints in the Biblical lifestyle of purity and power. Having a DNA of “In earth as it IS in heaven” [Matthew 6:10 KJV], requires us to pursue the life Jesus lived and to lead others into experiencing.

Mistakes happen! A mistake is a momentary lapse of good judgment. We have discovered there are way too many people who use the “I made a mistake” excuse for a lifestyle of repetitive “lapses of good judgment.” At some point people need to grasp they are not making mistakes. but they are revealing corrupt core values that if not repented of will lead them to dark places and possible eternal destruction.

Peter, a disciple of Jesus who made some mistakes in his life, wrote the following instruction to people displaced because of their commitment to Christ.

1 Peter 3 – “10 The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and [he must keep] his lips from speaking deceit. 11 He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Do you desire life? The life Peter is referring to is the life God possesses and passes on to those who desire His life.

Do you desire love? The love Peter is referring to is the love God possesses and passes on to those who choose to receive and communicate God’s love. God’s love does not change when a person rejects His love, because God never changes in His nature and character. He is eternally consistent!

Do you desire to see good days? The good days Peter is referring to that can be seen [experienced] are upright, honorable and therefore useful to God and to us. In other words, these “good days” are days when we live right according to the life God desires we live, and we choose to live because we choose to honor God.

Please pay close attention to this text!

This is a quote of Psalms 32:12-16 and Peter uses this text as he writes to believers in Christ who previously were not the people of God. Some believe Peter is writing just to Gentiles. Others believe he is writing to both Gentiles and Jews who previously were not born again believers in Christ. Either way, they are now Christians by virtue of their “being chosen by God, according to the foreknowledge of the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled by His blood” [1 Peter 1:2].

Look at what Peter says in 1:2 about the people he wrote to who were scattered into at least 5 areas quite possibly because of persecution.

1. Chosen by God according to the foreknowledge of the Father

This does not mean God only selects a select few to be saved. This means God saves those who choose to be selected to be saved. “Whosoever may come”, and “Many are called but few are chosen” are truths that reveal 1] everyone has the opportunity to come, and 2] only those who do come can be chosen. The call to salvation is offered to all, but only those who accept the call and the conditions of God’s call are saved.

2. By the sanctifying work of the Spirit

True separation to God always produces the life God saved us to live
. This sanctification must lead to a holy [pure] lifestyle
. In other words, if our life is not holy God did not give it to us. “14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16 because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy'” [1:14-16].

3. To obey Jesus Christ

There can be no purity without complete obedience to Christ who fully obeyed the Father. Our love for God is proved in our obedience to God. Peter is saying that we are chosen to obey Christ. This is a different reality than we are chosen to go to heaven.

  • John 14:31 – “But so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.”
  • John 14:15 – “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

I find it interesting Jesus followed up His “Loving Me means obeying Me” with “I love the Father by doing exactly as the Father commands Me.” True leadership is seen in setting the example for those who follow us. Pharisees [False leaders] put things on people they refuse to do themselves. By the way, the world is watching to see if what we say is congruent with how we live. Do we prove to the world we love God by fully obeying Him? Jesus did! And He is our role-model.

4. To be sprinkled by His blood

Being cleansed from all impurity must lead to a consistent lifestyle of living pure. This is an illustration taken from the Old Testament examples of – 1] The Hebrew people and the mixed multitude who were delivered from Egypt and the death angel by putting the blood of a sacrificed lamb on the doorposts of their homes [hearts]; 2] The sanctifying of all the materials, furniture, and utensils of Moses’ Tabernacle and Solomon’s temple; 3] The sanctifying of the priests where blood and oil was placed on their right ears, thumbs and big toes representing cleansing and anointing for service. Once these were sprinkled they were never to be used for any other purpose.

Peter lists some vitally important lifestyle characteristics of Christian character that leads to the life God desires for all people, but especially for anyone claiming to be His.

They:

1. Must keep their tongue from evil

  • ‘Evil’ here means worthless, destructive that comes from a belief that is not true
  • “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Our mouths reveal what really is in our heart.

2. Must keep their lips from speaking deceit

  • ‘Deceit’ here means a decoy [misleading for the purpose of luring away from what is true and holy]

3. Must turn away from evil and do good

  • ‘Turn away’ here means to turn completely from the wrong direction, or to head in the correct direction, to shun anything and anyone living unholy so we do not emulate their bad behavior
  • ‘Evil’ here is the same word used above [worthless, destructive that comes from a belief that is not true]
  • ‘Do good’ here means to produce, be the authors of, and abide in all that is honorable and beneficial to a holy lifestyle

4. Must seek peace and pursue it

  • ‘Seek’ here means to demand, require, crave and to pursue on purpose in order to find what you are seeking. It does not means meandering around pretending you are looking for something.
  • ‘Peace’ here means harmony, security, safety, prosperity, connection to others, and rest. This is the equivalent of the Hebrew word shalom.
  • ‘Pursue’ here means to run swiftly, passionately and purposefully in order to obtain the goal or prize.

Peter states the reason for these to be adhered to is because:

1. The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous

God loves the unrighteous but His eyes are toward the righteous!

  • ‘Toward’ here means over and on
  • God’s eyes are not on those who are evil
    • Habakkuk 1:13 – “You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness.”
    • This is why God turned away from Jesus on the Cross, and for the first time there was a disconnect between Father and Son. When Jesus became sin God could not look on the wickedness He bore for us.

2. The ears of the Lord attend to their prayer

  • ”Ears attend’ here means to be aware of, attentive to, and understand
  • ‘Prayer’ here means needs, desires, long for and even wants, and to make those known through seeking God, asking and entreating God. The idea here is our seeking God will direct what we desire and want to be what He desires and wants for us, which includes a holy life set apart to God and His purposes in the earth.

3. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil

  • ‘Face’ here means the countenance, eyes, look, appearance, expressions, and presence
  • This should convince those who believe God never shows a different “face” when He is dealing with people in different situations that He absolutely does.
    • Mark 3:5 – “After looking around at them with anger.”
  • This is a very descriptive verse that reveals Jesus not only looked directly at each one of them with anger, but the anger was not just for looks
  • Jesus communicated with His facial expression His strong displeasure with them
  • “Anger’ here means a violent emotion, temper, and an exhibition of punishment or the punishment itself. It is very hard for many to wrap their mind around this truth. Is it really possible for the perfect God who came as perfect Man to get so angry he directed it toward people with just a look?
  • ‘Against’ here means to position in front of, or to be directed toward. This means God deals with those who misbehave face to face, or He confronts the people who are misbehaving. God never sweeps misbehavior under the rug or pretends it does not exist. God always approaches from the front to speak directly to those who are not living holy and or healthy, especially in a Christian community context. God never talks behind someone’s back, and neither should we.
  • ‘Do’ here means the same as ‘ do good’ above. To produce, make, construct, author, to cause someone to do something – with the word ‘evil’ following it is the exact opposite of ‘do good’ in verse 11
  • ‘Evil’ here means of a bad nature [which would mean live like you are still unsaved], to cause trouble or injury that originates in thoughts that are wicked [twisted, or twisting truth]

I am concluding this blog by going back to the beginning. To be people of purpose, purity and power, we must desire life, [desire] to love and want to see good days. To realize our desire we must direct our attention toward the God who through His love saved us, toward those who are in right relationship with God and us, hear [understand] what they say to us, while simultaneously turning completely away from those who do evil, and seek to harm us by ensnaring us in their evil.

Keep HIS Passion, Power, Presence, Priority, Process, Provision, Pruning, Purity, Purging, and Purpose!

Judgment Begins!

Judgment begins and when it begins it may not end for quite some time!

“For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” 1 Peter 4:17

There are way too many people inside and outside of the church who see judgment as only punitive. Judgment certainly can be punitive but more times than not it represents a judicial decision that reveals divine purpose. Whether punitive or not when God issues His judgments they are always redemptive in nature and purpose.

Judgment has always been a part of keeping the church, and society in general, pure. The reason is simple, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”, and “Pursue . . .  and holiness, without which no one will see God.”  God wants every person to see Him, so they can find Him, so they can encounter Him, so they can discover who He truly is.

In April 1980 when I was 23 years old I surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Therefore I cannot speak to what transpired before that magnanimous life changing decision concerning the process of purging that is to lead to purity. In the early 1980’s we began to witness the unveiling of impurity in the church. In fact, the TV ministry [PTL Club], and the minister [Jim Baaker] who influenced me to surrender to the Lord from what was talked about on several of their morning television shows was embroiled in a sex scandal himself.

Most of the revelations in the 1980’s had to do with Protestant, Pentecostal and or Charismatic impropriety, and then after that a deluge began to develop over the rampant sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.

Now, fast forward to today and the latest religious organization to be sucked into the sewer of sexual impropriety is the Jehovah Witness’. “Jehovah’s Witnesses who allegedly suffered child abuse accused denominational leaders of telling them not to report abuse, saying it ‘would bring reproach on Jehovah.'” [From an article on http://www.dailycaller.com 11/20/17]

Reproach on Jehovah? Think of the damage that is done when children are told not to tell when they are abused because the God [god for the JW’s] they serve and trust would be negatively affected if they were to come clean. That certainly adds insult to their injury.

The problem is most of the exposure of the church has been done by the secular world [people outside the church]. Why the church doesn’t police its own purity is bewildering to me. It really shouldn’t be a surprise because the early church in Corinth refused to clean out the corruption of sexual sin, so this problem has persisted for two thousand years.

1 Corinthians 5

“1 It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife. 2 You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. . . . 9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.”

Paul, as the apostolic founder and father of the church in the city of Corinth was appalled at how the leaders and members in Corinth were not dealing with the devilish behavior of one of its members. Paul’s unwavering wisdom maintains the standard the Savior of the Body laid out when He was setting the foundational teaching for the citizens of His kingdom. Paul went so far as to turn the man over to Satan to destroy his flesh [carnal, sinful nature and behavior] so that he might possibly be saved [forgiven, delivered and healed]. This is divine justice at its finest on display. The destruction of all that brings destruction in our lives for the purpose of us finding all that God has in store for our lives. What a deal that is!

“I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” [1 Corinthians 5:5]

I want to remind you this was a member of the church Paul did this to. Paul took to task the leaders and members for not making purity in their community a priority. Either this erring “so-called brother” was a faux Christian or Paul is clearly communicating unrepentant sinful behavior endangers our connection to Christ the Head of the Body resulting in dis-membering, or disqualification of our membership.

The same can be said of the way the church, and more specifically the Catholic Church has handled sexual predatory behavior. Reassigning pastors or priests to other churches [parishes] only enables them to prey on unknowing innocent parishoners.

Whatever happened to:

Ephesians 5

5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason it says,Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.'”

Who is the “sleeper” Paul is talking about in verse fourteen? Some say it is those who are living in darkness while others say it is those who are not maintaining the culture of Light. Either way, God wants the atmosphere around His people to replicate the atmosphere around Him.

Paul is once again dealing with unholy behavior within the community of those who are called by God holy. “Sons of disobedience” are those within the church who live their lives replicating the behavior of the father of sin, the devil. Paul goes on to say, “Let no one deceive you.” This is fatherly love being lavished on the ones being deceived. Paul is saying you cannot live in darkness and the light at the same time. Believing you can is deception.

One advantage the early church had over the church of today is there was only one church per city or region. Today there are hundreds if not thousands in a relatively small geographical area. What happens many times when someone is “discovered” to be living like a sinner while claiming to be a saint and are confronted, they “hear from God” and leave the community they claimed as their spiritual family and find an unsuspecting one to infect with their faithlessness.

Now that at least forty years of recent judgment has been uncovering corruption in God’s church it is now moving onto the other mountains [high places] of influence that make up society’s standard bearers.

Media, politics, military, arts, sports, law enforcement, business, family and the education mountains are undergoing what the church has been facing for at least a generation. Forty years is the time of testing in Scripture, and now that the church is approaching the end of her forty year time of testing the rest of the world and its systems can expect to undergo its own season of soul searching. This is not to say the church is now exempt from continued judgment. Hopefully, we in the church will pick up the mantle of maturity and deal with this problem “in house.”

What we see happening in the world right now is nothing short of a spiritual showdown where the God who sees everything is uncovering the darkness the prince of darkness has kept in the shadows of the unholy. “There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known” [Matthew 10:26; Luke 12:2].

Those who do not like President Donald Trump might not like what I am about to say but I will say it anyway. In the year since he was Constitutionally elected as our forty fifth president our superficial society is opening up and hidden horrors as coming into the light. The sewers in our society are no longer seeping. Now they are hemorrhaging.

I am convinced Donald Trump, with all of his personality quirks, weaknesses and past moral failures, possesses a fire that has been building in him for about as long as the house of God has been being exposed [1980’s – present]. Do your own research of his interviews that he did as far back as the 80’s, and see how he has been consistent in his open expression of love for this country and what he believes the solutions are that will bring us back to prominence on the planet God owns and loves. America, will all of her flaws, is still anointed by God to be a world leader for good.

It is interesting to me that since Donald Trump was elected our forty fifth president all sorts of sordid secret stuff is surfacing up from the sewer. And it is really interesting because his enemies sought to take him out with something he said years ago and with fake salacious smut. Many who were horrified at his crass conversation about “what certain women want” are now embroiled directly or indirectly in their own corrupt behavior. Hypocrisy on all levels are being highlighted right now.

In just over twelve months people in high places in academia, media, arts, politics and other areas of the social fabric of our society are being exposed for the hypocrisy they hid in plain sight. Now it is just in plain sight! And it is not pretty.

And the continued exposure is not the kind of exposure they desire, or are used to receiving!

“There is pleasure in sin for a season” is one reason people sin. “Be sure your sin will find you out” should be reason enough for all of us to constantly take personal inventory of what is hidden in our heads and hearts and should cause us to do due diligence in digging it up and doing away with it.

In my Book, Welcome To The Wilderness I write this as it pertains to Gomer. Gomer was a women looking for love in all of the wrong places.

Chapter 3, Page 63

“Now, what are the uninhabited areas of our lives that are uninhabitable?

That describes much of Gomer’s life. She was a mess. We don’t know why she was a mess. We don’t know why she could not be satisfied in relationships. We do not know what drove her to prostitution.

What we do know is God sent salvation to fix all of her problems!

All of us have areas in our lives that are uninhabitable. Each of us have stuff, baggage that we carry around with us, that God cannot bless. It may be ugly sin or it may be lies we believe, or places we refuse to look at, or just life in general that gets in His way.

The beauty of salvation is that those areas do not scare it. Salvation thrives in the junk rooms of people’s lives.

So God brought Gomer into those areas of her life in the wilderness.

Salvation never enters those areas to join them. Salvation enters in to reform, or transform them.

Salvation gives new life to old things that are dead.”

The fire Donald Trump possesses trumps the sanctimonious secretism of the social elite.

Isaiah chapter 45 clearly speaks of a leader God chose [anointed] for a special work that would be the precursor of a spiritual awakening in the land. Isaiah spoke concerning a man who wasn’t from the established Jewish order of leadership. God chose this man in spite of the established leadership community.

This man was named Cyrus. Cyrus means one who possesses the fire. This fire fueled his passion to find and fulfill his purpose. It drove him to heights of leadership excellence. Cyrus was the leader of Persia and Persia means pure or splendid. This man who was not considered pure or splendid by the establishment had been being established by God who does not look at the outward appearances of men like men do. God looks for what men possess that other men cannot see or refuse to see.

In spite of what you think of Donald Trump he possesses a purity and splendor that God chose to use and is using. In some ways Donald Trump is like king David. David certainly had serious lapses of judgment but God said David “was a man after My heart, who would do all My will.”

Donal Trump’s business acumen and vision enables him to see things way in advance and we might say God has graced him with a prophetic ability to see past the obvious into what is necessary.

President Trump, like Cyrus, is anointed for very specific goals. To accomplish these goals certain things must be uncovered, exposed and removed. One of the things that stands out about Cyrus is how Isaiah reports that God took Cyrus by the right hand. The right side represents authority and hand represents possession, or what we have responsibility for. In order for God to take Cyrus by the right hand God would have had to have been on his right side. This means God not only provided Cyrus His authority by being on Cyrus’ right side but he acknowledged what Cyprus possessed and anointed that for His purposes, even though Cyrus did not come from His “people.”

It appears Cyrus had a reputation as a kind, gentle and merciful conquerer. During an excavation of ancient Babylon in 1978 a cylinder was discovered containing a charter written by Cyrus. This charter promised to treat all the inhabitants of Babylon and the other kingdoms he conquered with respect. He swore that he would allow all inhabitants of his empire to practice their own religious and social customs without persecution. Cyrus also promised to punish anyone who acted cruelly to the religious and social minorities of his kingdom. Cyrus forbade the seizure of farmer’s lands and properties and made slavery of any kind illegal. Cyrus’ commitment to fair and equitable treatment of his people is exemplary by modern standards and was unique during his time period. [http://study.com/academy/lesson/cyrus-the-great-facts-accomplishments-quiz.html]

Maybe this is why God chose him to release the Jews to rebuild in the land they had been banned from.

Again, Donald Trump has many obvious flaws. We might want to be gracious because most of us have many flaws too. In being kind maybe we could agree his life is complicated. Is your life complicated with complications? What if your words were recorded and revealed to the world? Would they eliminate you from public service or ministry?

Donald Trump also has a reputation of doing extraordinary acts of kindness. He also has a great reputation with many of his past and present employees in his real estate empire.

Judgment begins, and when it begins it may not end for quite some time!

Let’s look at what Cyrus was anointed to do and view them in light of what Donald Trump is doing in our day.

  • Subdue  [conquer] nations – Now, when we think of subdue and conquer we think of destroying and or reshaping what is conquered after the image of the conquering country. That is not what Cyrus was anointed to do [I remind you of that cylinder found in 1878] and that is not what President Trump is doing. Other administrations wanted to remake conquered lands in the image of the USA. President Trump is not like the other Presidents who have failed miserably at nation building and who unleashed untold misery in the lands that have been conquered. Donald Trump believes in the sovereignty of individual nations and the national pride of those nation’s citizens. Again, this sounds like Cyrus.
  • Loose loins – Loins are the reproductive areas of our body. It is where production originates. The reproductive and creative ability resident in the organs and systems of the people are to be loosed [make wide open and set free]. Donald Trump is not forcing other nations to be molded into the image of our Constitutional Republic. He encourages the people to find their best selves and strive for excellence in their personal pursuits.
  • Of kings – The royals, or leaders in various spheres of influence and their advisors. In other words, Cyrus was, and President Trump is, anointed to expose the God-given abilities inherent in the leaders of other lands that will cause tremendous transformation with the societies they lead.
  • To open doors – This is the same word Hebrew word used for “loose”. This can be seen in light of the promise that God will open doors no man can shut [Revelation 3:8]. I believe this is the main reason why all the attacks against President Trump have failed and will continue to fail because man did not create Donald Trump, no man anointed Donald Trump, and no man opened doors for Donald Trump. Also, these doors that God opens is for the purpose of gaining access to the movers and shakers [the leaders] in the lands where the doors open.
  • So that gates will not be shut – Again, what God opens man cannot shut. Gates are access and egress points into a city, state, region or nation. There are natural and spiritual gateways into people and places. Ancient gates are now being opened.
  • I will go before you and make the rough places smooth – This speaks to how President Trump is received and honored in the different nations where he has traveled. Apparently other nations’ leaders see leadership in President Trump.
  • I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars – Bronze and iron speak to the resistance to change and those who are presenting the resistance, among other things. One has to choose not to see all of the positive change that has happened in the first year of President Trump’s administration. Have we arrived? No. But we are way farther down the road to recovery than we have in at least 10-12 years. The tide is turning toward transformation!
  • Treasures of darkness – Speaks of things in people and the people themselves that have been hidden from sight. Scripture tells us “we [Christians] have this treasure in earthen vessels.” Treasure begins in the womb and President Trump is being called the most pro-life President in our history. Protecting the unborn will release a blessing on our land that has the potential to stay the slaughter that is so prevalent in our streets. Also, this speaks of the gifts, talents, and abilities inherent inside of people that has not had an opportunity to be revealed and released. We are on the cusp of historic discoveries and demonstrations. WINNING IS FUN!
  • Hidden wealth in secret places – A nation’s wealth is not necessarily in the material possession. Jesus said, “A man’s life does not consist in what he possesses.” Rather, a nation’s wealth is her people. People no one has heard of before will begin to come out of secret places and be recognized for their great exploits.

All of this was done so that Cyrus [and Donald Trump] would know the Lord like he never knew was possible. Donald Trump is growing in the grace and knowledge of God Almighty. Has he arrived? No! Neither have you or I arrived! So we, like Donald Trump, must keep moving closer to the heart of God who loves us with all of His heart.

Isaiah prophesied it was for God’s people’s sake that God called Cyrus and gave him a place of honor. He said that was in spite of the fact Cyrus did not know God when He called and anointed him. Donald Trump has made protecting Christians worldwide a priority. Not even George W. Bush, a “born again Christian” did that. In fact, it is without question W’s policies in the middle east unleashed hell on Christians throughout the region. That hell was exacerbated under #44.

Also, now in America Christian leaders are no longer afraid of speaking into the political arena because the Johnson Act has been neutered, and we can thank President Trump for that, not #43!

God is on the move again! God is on the rise again! I believe it is because God is being honored at the highest level of our government again!

Let us pray that the Sun of Righteousness, who rose with healing in His wings, will release His healing virtue throughout our land. God is revealing His judgments and the world is in for another renassaince. Only this time it will come with spiritual revival and reformation that will result in a transformation that does not destroy the ancient foundations. That failed and is being overturned. Now foundations are being restored and new foundations are being laid.

So, let the real building begin!

That is what happens when judgment begins!

Eternal Perspectives

A Farmer’s Insurance commercial states, “We know a few things because we have seen a few things”. To that I say, “Amen!”

That statement applies to my own personal life as well as my experience working with people for over 35 years trying my best to help them find and fulfill their God-given eternal purpose.

I must confess that I have no grid for Christians who are still wondering what their life is all about, all the while wandering around in lives that do not match what they have testified to me they believe God has called them to be and do.

Solomon said this in Ecclesiates 3:11 – “He [God] has put eternity in their heart.”

With this being true I often ask people, “Do you live with eternity in view or your immediate felt needs in view?” This is usually the point in the conversation they tilt!

I believe a large portion of the “Christian” population lives in and for the immediate moment rarely ever thinking about how the decisions they are making in this moment will effect their eternal purpose.

For instance, Paul the apostle wrote this to his spiritual children in Corinth. ” 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world?  3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?” [1 Corinthians 6]

“Judge the world”?

“Judge matters of this life”?

“Judge angels”?

If Christians do not step into their calling to judge this world they disqualify themselves from ever being called upon to judge in the world to come!

If Christians do not step into their calling to judge this life they disqualify themselves from ever being called upon to judge in the next life!

If Christians do not step into their calling to judge the church they disqualify themselves from ever being called upon to judge angels!

Most Christians believe we have no business judging anything or anyone. I mean didn’t Jesus say, “1 Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can  you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” [Matthew 7].

He did say “do not judge”, but the context of that statement is don’t look past the log in your eye to cast judgment on someone else. In other words, it takes a lot of time, energy and focus to even find a speck [minute problem] in the other person’s eye you are judging. How can you do that and not see the log that is in your own eye? Or, how can you see that speck with that log in your eye?

The context is not about making no judgment. It is about making complete judgements. And it is also about not being a hypocrite judge by being so focused on the insignificant problems in other people’s lives you pretend you do not have anything in your life that you need to address.

Also, Jesus’ next statement after the “do not judge so that you will not be judged” is, “for in the way you judge, you will be judged.” Do you see that His point is the way we judge, not do not judge at all?

“Judgement begins with the household of God” [1 Peter 4:17], and it is supposed to begin with the individual temple [believer] of God. The individual Christian is, and the corporate Body of believers are, the temple of God.

Christians who do not believe we are called to judge do not know the Word of God, or do not believe the Word of God that they know!

If we are to judge the world, this life and angels we need to work on removing logs out of our purview so we can live with a clear view of eternity!

God’s people get involved with people, places and things that in no way are contributing to His eternal purpose for their lives. Needing human companionship, they meet with and in some cases marry people who will never help them find, walk in and fulfill their eternal purpose and potential.

Or, they get involved with people or activities where they have to walk away from [apostasy] their own personal revelation and experiences in God. They have not made a right judgment about their own current call from God [this life] so they will never be called upon to judge the world, angels or the next life.

This is a travesty and great tragedy!

These “believers” say, “I have not abandoned Christ. I totally believe in Him.”

My question to them is, “Then why have you turned away from the Christ [anointing, mission, mandate, message, methods and ministry] that He revealed to you and in you?”

Jesus is denied all the time by people who do not believe the God they say they believe in!

You may believe He provided you a way to get into heaven but you have abandoned His eternal purpose for you to get heaven into earth. My friends, by getting heaven into earth is how we judge the world.

The Lord knows I know too many people who have chosen a spouse, career, job position or promotion that was not equally yoked with them. I know the Bible tells us not to be unequally yoked with an unbeliever [2 Corinthians 6:14], but how many believers have married unbelieving believers who drag them down and away from their own revelation and experiences in God. And how many have taken a position, even in a ministry, that caused them to “deny” the Christ that called them into the ministry?

Trust me, no spouse is better than the wrong spouse! There are a lot of married single Christian people! And that position, promotion and paycheck in ministry is not worth losing our position as judge in the Kingdom of God.

The words “matters of this life” in our 1 Corinthians 6:3 text literally means, “to spend the life, to spend your existence, time, resources, possessions.” In other words, what do we spend our life on? What do we invest our life in? Who do we invest our life in? To make the wrong judgment in these “matters” will make all the difference on if we get all of the life God purposes for us in “this life”, and the next life!

Speaking of judgment and having an eternal perspective, let’s look at what Jesus said to Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel.

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

I want to address a few of the important truths found in this text.

  1. Verse 17 – “God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
  2. Verse 18 – “Those who believe in the Son is not judged, but those who do not believe have already been judged because they refused to believe in the name [nature, character, call, mission, mandate, methods and ministry] of the only begotten Son of God.”
  3. Verse 19 – “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.”
  4. Verse 21 – “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Do you notice how Jesus was not sent into the world to judge the world but at the same time His coming into the world brought judgement upon the world?

Do you notice how there can be no salvation apart from judgment?

Do you notice how those who practice truth come to the Light so that their deeds [works] will manifest [come into being and into the view of the world] and be revealed as the works of God? Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” [Matthew 5:16]

In this verse Jesus clearly connects light to good works and God being glorified in them!

Do you notice how the lovers of darkness do not come to the Light?

Where do you stand in relation to Light and darkness?

Have you come to the Light [Jesus Christ]?

Are you manifesting your good works to prove they are wrought by God [God’s works]?

Are you afraid of the Light and being exposed by the Light?

Do you love darkness, and if you do why do you love it?

If you have experienced the Light why on earth would you dare venture back into that which is not Light?

Is your perspective temporary or eternal?

It really is that black and white!

Keep HIS Faith! Keep HIS Passion! Keep HIS Purposes!

Come And See

“5 Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men. 6 He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him!” Psalms 66

The psalmist chose two specific historical events in ancient Israel to invite every reader of the Bible to “come and see”.

Have you ever wondered why he chose those two out of the multitude of events available to him?

Here is what I believe –

1. “He turned the sea into dry land” speaks of deliverance from Egyptian bondage.

Egypt is a type of the world, sin, and being in bondage to a tyrant [Pharoah / devil]. To escape, God dried up the Red Sea so the children of Israel could walk on dry ground to begin their 11 day journey to the Promised Land [the place God wanted to deliver them into].

Unfortunately they turned that 11 day trek into a 40 year journey!

2. “They passed through the river on foot” speaks of the people having to take a risk to enter the place God delivered them out of Egypt to enter.

The river Jordan was at flood stage so the risk was great. If it had been at a time or place where there was not much water the risk would have been much lower. God did not dry up the river like He did the Red Sea.

God never delivers a person just to get them out of something or some place. He always wants to deliver people into something or some place. That place is the place of freedom and blessing. It is the place He created you to be.

It is the place where His purpose for your life can be fully lived!

In order to get into the place God wants to deliver you into [the place of your divine purpose] you will have to step into the water [that which is inconvenient and risky] to enter into it. It is at that place [“there”] that the greatest rejoicing takes place. “There let us rejoice in Him!”

It is interesting to me that the psalmist said to rejoice at the place you enter your purpose, not at the place of pain you were delivered out of.

When the children of Israel stepped into the flood waters the water rolled all the way back to a town called Adam.

Adam is the man who lost sight of who he was [made in the likeness and image of God], why he was [to work and protect the Garden God placed him in charge of, and to export the blessings of the Garden to the rest of the world]. When he lost focus he sucked the serpent into his world and became lost, or separated from the God who made him.

Adam did not get lost until he lost focus! When he lost focus he lost his identity and his purpose.

Are you lost? Have you lost focus? Have you forgotten who God says you are? Have you failed to enter into the work God called you to do? Have you been living irresponsibly by either never entering your place of purpose, or by being irresponsible in your area of responsibility?

Rolling the water back to Adam speaks of the removal of all that Adam passed on to you so that you go into your place of purpose free, clear and clean as you fully appreciate and appropriate all that you are in the last Adam, who is Jesus Christ.

What is standing in your way keeping you from stepping into God’s purpose for you?

What are you afraid to step into?

What is God not removing from you for you because it will be removed when you take the step of faith required to see it removed?

Is your identity in the first Adam, who failed miserably?

Is your identity in the last Adam, Jesus Christ, who is a faithful Son over the household of God?

“Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.”

The Complete Meaning Of Christmas – Part 2

In Part 2 of this blog I hope to illustrate how maturity was the goal God had in mind for our role model for all life and ministry – Jesus the Christ – and how it is His goal for every blood bought believer in Jesus the Christ.

Part 1 ended on the importance of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

We must remember that God waited to announce who His Son was and how pleased He was with His Son until His Son was baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit in the river Jordan.

In Acts chapter 19 Luke writes that as Christianity was progressing away from Jerusalem, the place of its origin, the baptism in the Holy Spirit continued to be a major theme for the blood bought believers of Jesus the Christ.   This happened approximately 20 years after Pentecost.

1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.”

Did you, dear reader,  receive the Holy Spirit when you believed on Jesus the Christ?

This is not talking about the new birth where every person, upon receiving Jesus the Christ as their Lord, receives the Holy Spirit [Between John 20 & Acts 2 were 47 days]. These disciples were believers in Jesus the Christ. They were “disciples” and they had “believed.” They had just been baptized into John’s baptism. The text does not say they repented and accepted Christ. It says they were baptized in the name of the [their] Lord Jesus. Paul then laid hands on them and they were immediately baptized in the Holy Spirit and they spoke with [unknown, heavenly] tongues and prophesied.

Are you like the people in Ephesus who were confused at Paul’s question?

Are you interested in the truth about the importance of the baptism in the Holy Spirit?

Do you have anyone in your life that can clear up any confusion that you may have?

I can make myself available if you don’t have someone?

I believe your maturity in Christ depends on how you respond!

Let’s transition to an Old Testament text that reveals a tremendous amount of information about God’s purpose for the Christ Child.

Isaiah 9:6,7 GWT – “6 A child will be born for us. A son will be given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and peace will have unlimited growth. He will establish David’s throne and kingdom. He will uphold it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The Lord of Armies is determined to do this!”

V6 – “A child will be born for us. A son will be given to us.”

This Child was born for us!

This Christ Child was born to be a role model. He was born “for us”. He is our example! We are to follow in His footsteps!  He was born to carry something tremendous and tremendously important for the planet.

All children are born to become someone who can be given to a purpose that is much greater than themselves!

Children are born, not to remain children, or childish! The same goes for those who are born again by the Spirit of God.

The Son was given the government, not the Child!

The Son was given His government, not the Child!

Are you aware and do you care that God wants to give something tremendous to you so that He can give you as a tremendous gift to the planet? Our level of maturity will determine if we ever have access to it.

1 Corinthians 13:11 GWT – “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I no longer used [employed] childish ways [childishness].”

NAS – “When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things [childishness].”

MSG – “When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.”

There is a huge difference between childlikeness and childishness!

We are to remain childlike even though we are to lose our childishness. Childishness on an adult is not cute, or appealing!

The word child is used 5x in the 1 Corinthian 13 text. All 5 are the Greek word nepios [nay-pee-os].

Nepios is the 2nd level of maturity in the childhood stage of maturity [Greek words for child are Brephos, Nepios, Paidion, Teknon].

Nepios means immature, unable to speak intelligently, self-centered, self-absorbed, selfish, carnal [living out of our old unsaved nature]. Paul uses this word in 1 Corinthians 3.

Included in this word for immaturity is the word negate.

Negate – To nullify or cause to be ineffective; to be negative; to bring or cause negative results [especially through pessimism].

Pessimism – The tendency to see, anticipate, or emphasize only bad or undesirable outcomes, results, conditions, problems, etc.

My wife Donna and I have been together 43 years. 39 of those years as a married couple. When we were teenagers I called her a pessimist one day. Her response was to hit me and say, “I am not a pest.” Of course we had a discussion about what I really said and did not say. As I have thought about that “event” in our history together I realized a pessimist is a pest. Pessimists bug positive people. Pessimists don’t like positive people and the feeling is mutual. Pessimists attract other pessimists so they can talk about all that is wrong in the world, or at least their world. Many times they deduce their problems are the positive people in their world who won’t agree with them.

What is negating our individual progress toward maturity and responsibility?

Is it possible that our individual issues of immaturity are impeding our personal growth and is hampering the overall growth of the corporate Body of Christ?

Paul said he made a decision to get rid of everything that was hindering his progress!

This Son was given to us!

Sonship is the second level of maturity in the Kingdom of God. This maturing process from childhood to sonship is critical to the person born being given by God to a greater purpose. It is in this “given to us” that defines the purpose for why they was born for us. Jesus was born to carry the weight of governing [ruling] the world. He had to successfully progress through the four stages of development as a child before He could reach the sonship level of maturity.

Have you ever thought why Jesus arrived as a Baby in a manger? By the way, everyone starts in a manger. A manger can represent the place of insignificance where we are unnoticed and unappreciated by those who do not really know and love us.

The manger was not the goal. It was the place of beginning. It was meager and it was messy. But it was the origin of the greatest thing God has ever done on the planet. Christmas began in a Mary, then a messy manger, but it continues in the masses of maturing blood bought believers in Jesus the Christ as they manifest the Son of Man through their own personal mission, ministry and mandate.

Jesus is called the last Adam. He is not the second Adam. There will not be another Adam.

The first Adam arrived on the planet as a man. He represents every human being that is lost, separated from God and without hope in this world. The last Adam arrived as a Baby and represents every blood bought son and daughter of God.

The first Adam was “born” in a Garden where everything was provided and perfect. The last Adam was born in a stall. The first Adam’s failure to fulfill his mission, mandate and ministry from God temporarily stalled God’s purposes for mankind. The last Adam’s obedience restored the relationship and reignited man’s role in stewarding heavenly realities that will ultimately transform God’s planet back into a Paradise.

The first Adam had no experience or history with God in spiritual warfare and therefore he had no idea how to fight off the serpent who attacked his identity [made in the image and likeness of God] and his mission, ministry and mandate to take Paradise to the rest of the planet [rule, reign, subdue, be fruitful, etc].

The last Adam was born a Baby. He had the advantage of a process of maturing where He had to endure all kinds of hardships and attacks against His identity [a bastard child, the son of a carpenter, etc], and against His mission, ministry and mandate [“By what authority are you doing these things”, etc]. This Man “learned obedience from the things He suffered.”

Those experiences were invaluable to Him to remain true to Who He was and what He was born to become and ultimately accomplish.

Let’s take a look at what Paul had to say to the blood bought believers in Galatia.

Galatians 4:1-7 CEV – 1 Children who are under age are no better off than slaves, even though everything their parents own will someday be theirs. 2 This is because children are placed in the care of guardians and teachers until the time their parents have set. 3 That is how it was with us. We were like children ruled by the powers of this world.4 But when the time was right, God sent his Son, and a woman gave birth to him. His Son obeyed the Law, 5 so he could set us free from the Law, and we could become God’s children. 6 Now that we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. And his Spirit tells us that God is our Father.7 You are no longer slaves. You are God’s children, and you will be given what he has promised.”

The word ‘children’ in verses 1 -3 is the word nepios we have studied above. As long as we are carnal, self-absorbed, self-centered, and selfish [stuck on ourselves] then the Father cannot release what He has reserved for us.

God wants us to grow up into sonship, just like His Son Jesus the Christ did. Remember, the government was the Babe’s in the manger but it was not given to Him until the river Jordan. It was there that He began to assault the enemy who had been assaulting Him His entire life up to that point.

There is another truth in this text that I missed until recently. Paul tells us that “when the fullness of time came God sent forth His Son, born of a woman.” I see this this way – God finally found a woman who was prepared  [pure and open to God”s supernatural interventions in her life] to carry the responsibility to bring to term the greatest gift God would ever give to the planet.

Mary, who “knew” no man was open to trying something new. Her availability to the Creator created her opportunity to become “great” with Child.

In conjunction, it was important that Joseph was able to cover her during the most difficult time of the process. Their responsibility did not lessen, it only changed once the Babe was born.

Could it be that God is waiting again for the conceivers, carriers and coverers to become prepared so that at the right time He can release something again on the planet that the people on the planet desperately need?

God needs mature people, male and female, to become pregnant with His purposes and He needs mature leaders, male and female, who will cover the carriers of those purposes.

Are you ready?

What do you need to do to get ready?

What all does God want to give to you so that He can then give you to others?

To whom does God want to give you?

For what purpose does God want to give you to those He wants to receive you?

What if they don’t receive you?

How will their acceptance or rejection affect why you were born?

What is your history with God?

How is your history with God affecting your stance against the attacks of the enemy against your identity and life purpose?

Is the enemy attacking you?

If not, why not?

What if anything have your learned or are learning from the things you have suffered or are suffering as you stay true to who you are in Christ, and what God has called you to become and accomplish?

The process between our birth, new birth and our revealing to the world determines how much influence we will have in our world.

We are told in the Isaiah 9 text that His government and peace will have unlimited growth. Contrary to contemporary pop theology, Jesus inaugurated His kingdom 2000 years ago. It started small in a small geographical location with a small band of ragged disciples. It has grown and will continue to grow until the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of God.

Many “followers” drew near to Jesus and eventually left Him. Jesus remained Jesus! All of Jesus’ original followers deserted Him when He was the most vulnerable. Jesus remained Jesus!

Do not despise small beginnings

Zechariah 4:6-10 GNT – “6 The angel told me to give Zerubbabel this message from the Lord: “You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by My Spirit. 7 Obstacles as great as mountains will disappear before you. You will rebuild the Temple, and as you put the last stone in place, the people will shout, ‘Beautiful, beautiful!’ ” 8 Another message came to me from the Lord. 9 He said, “Zerubbabel has laid the foundation of the Temple, and he will finish the building. When this happens, my people will know that it is I who sent you to them. 10a They are disappointed because so little progress is being made. But they will see Zerubbabel continuing to build the Temple, and they will be glad.”

Zerubbabel did not allow the lack of help to deter him from working. Keep working friend even when you are not seeing the kind of results you desire.

Though your beginning is small yet great will your end be

Job 8:7 NCV – “Where you began will seem unimportant, because your future will be so successful.”

Christmas, among many other things, is about God coming in the flesh to model the lifestyle of a “producer”, lifting mankind out of the mindset of an ‘excuser’.

The excuser’s reality is – “I can’t do it”, “It won’t work”. To them “all things are impossible” therefore they are afraid to start anything or pay a price to work hard at something.

The ‘producer’s’ reality is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me [gives me His ability]”, and “This will work” or “I will work until it works”. To the producer “Nothing is impossible” so he or she is not afraid to go for it.

Here are 2 true statements that are worthy of your consideration:

Our beginning does not have to determine our end! If you don’t begin you are already at your end.

What we do between our beginning [born] and our end is determined not by where we began, but by what we do on the road to being given!

Why were you born?

Have you grown up to the point that you can now be given for a purpose bigger than yourself? Or are your still stuck on yourself?

If you are not growing up why are you not growing up?

What is stunting your growth?

Is the Christian culture you are in allowing you to grow beyond your wildest dreams?

Are your dreams being drowned out by those who want you to stay a child?

Do you want to stay a child? If so, why?

Worship Is An Act Of Love And War #8 – Overcoming Our Personal Goliath

“Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle.” Psalm 144:1

David worshiped God for many reasons but in this verse he stated he worshiped because God had enabled him to effectively use his hands in warfare.

David was a mighty worshiping warrior!
He was a mighty worshiping intercessor!
He was a mighty prophetic worshiper!
He was a mighty worshiping protector of God’s purposes on the earth!

David was skilled with his hands in warfare. He seized a lion and a bear with his bare hands and killed them so that his father’s sheep would be protected.

He used a sling to launch a rock into the forehead of Goliath.

Do you know Goliath? He was the giant that stood at a distance and taunted God and His people. Please notice Goliath never attacked by approaching the army of Israel. He simply launched words of accusation from a distance.

Goliath is a contradiction. Usually things look bigger the closer you get to them. In his case, Goliath was in reality only a giant at a distance.

David is the one who attacked. He ran toward Goliath. And before he launched the rock from his sling he launched his confidence through his words. As David approached Goliath he found him to be weak and vulnerable to God’s truth.

Once he killed Goliath he then took Goliath’s sword and cut off Goliath’s head. Swords in Scripture speak of words. The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. When our enemy speaks to us he is attempting to cut us down with his sword.

Instead of empowering your Goliath’s by viewing them at a distance run toward them declaring the truth of who you are in Christ and watch them fall to the ground and die. Then cut off their head with their own sword, as David did.

David continued to use Goliath’s sword in battle to defeat the enemies of His Lord.

I do not believe that is why David praised God in this instance.

I believe David praised God because when David worshiped the powers of darkness were neutralized and even retreated. I believe David learned this valuable bit of intel when he was a servant in King Saul’s house, and in those far fields of isolated faithful service for his father.

“So it came about whenever the evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would depart from him.” 1 Sam 16:23

The Bible does not say what I am about to write but I believe it is very possible that David’s private worship in the far fields of his father’s property, and his public worship in the courts of the King, created an atmosphere where the giant was not able to cross into the personal space of God’s people. It also created a great confidence in David’s heart that God was in control, not the enemy.

Worship is an act of love and war and when we worship we connect with the heart of God and God’s heart is displayed through us in great courage to face our personal giants.

If we cannot face and conquer our personal giants then we will never be effective in defeating the giants that have paralyzed and are destroying our society.

David never let his personal giant, the need and hunt for personal and physical intimacy, get in the way of his personal and spiritual hunt for intimacy with God.

David spent time with God and because he spent time with God even during his personal struggles he was able to overcome them. From his place of personal victory he was able to carry his victory into the greater battle for the souls of people, the soul of a region and the soul of the world.

From his loins, the place of his greatest personal battle, came the Messiah, the Savior of all mankind. While not every person will receive salvation they have been provided that wonderful gift.

Do not allow your personal struggles to keep you from the presence of the only Person that can give you victory.

Winning your personal victories will create confidence and courage so you can bring victory to a multitude of other people.

Personal obedience releases corporate blessing! Exponential effect is one way to see greater results in advancing God’s kingdom in the earth.
