I have been ruminating on Jesus’ words to Donna and me from April 2019 when we were transitioning out of pastoral church ministry to personal and personalized discipleship ministry. He said, “I need you to trust Me on a level you never have before.”
I must say that has been frustrating at times and I am still working on successfully living at that “level.” I have begged God to give me a clue as to what He meant [means] by what He said. “Lord, how will I know I have reached the level you are calling me to if I have no idea what it looks like?”
With the pronouncement of COVID being an invisible mass murderer last year, I began to understand some of what the level of trust needs to be.
I will spare all I have concluded but here is what I believe is a vitally important part:
There are no societal structures or systems that can be trusted. The proverbial 7 mountains of society [spheres of influence] have all failed to be bastions of security.
The 7 mountains are:
Religious
Government/Law/Military
Business
Education
Media
Family
Arts/Entertainment [including sports]
Some of these were already fully in the suspect category and others fell headlong into the “do not trust” category during COVID. That does not mean there is no one in those spheres that can be trusted, just the structures themselves have proven themselves to be untrustworthy.
Being woke does not mean being truly awake! And being politically correct certainly is not the same thing as being Biblically correct!
Trust in God has at best deteriorated in each of these structures and systems and at worst are nonexistent – still. For example, most churches [houses of worship regardless if they are Christian or not] led the way to encourage the surrendering of believer’s personal sovereignty by mandating obedience to the “state” instead of the Savior. A pastor in Jacksonville who once was a close friend of ours JUST opened his church back up to in-person “worship.” Many are leading the charge to “take the jab” in spite of all the obvious dangers associated with the experimental concoctions in them.
I had a chapter in my third book, Christianity the Way Jesus Lived It, that I removed because of timing [current relevance] and cost to print each book [reduced pages from over 380 to 344] that dealt in great detail some of what I am writing in this FFT email. I may write a book on COVID and the failure of Christians and the church in the world’s greatest time of need, at least in my lifetime.
With everything crumbling around us including supply lines that provide essential goods we have grown to depend on and grown to depend on being readily available to us, I, in the strongest terms say to you, “Do you trust Jesus on a level you never have before?” In war, supply lines are some of the first targets so that those being attacked cannot resupply. Like David, we must say and believe, “My help comes from the Lord.”
I am shouting from the rooftops the absolute necessity for God’s people to develop a deeper relationship with Him. Time is of the essence! There is no time to waste! And those who know me know I am NOT a doomsday promoter. But doom is at our doorstep and in some places inside the “walls of the city,” and those who intimately know their God will do great exploits during the darkest days.
God uses pressure to persuade us to dig deeper to discover more of the Rock He has provided us.
Process this text out of Hebrews 12:
“25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven. 26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.” [NOTE: Read Hebrews 2:1-4 – in the Amplified too].
I am separating each verse so you can read and process them individually and slowly. Pay close attention to verse 26. It says God is doing the shaking! It is a quote from Haggai 2:6.
25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
26 And His voice shook the earth then [probably at Mount Sinai], but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.”
27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe:
29 for our God is a consuming fire.
The context of Haggai 2:6 is this:
“1 On the twenty-first of the seventh month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet saying, 2 “Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people saying, 3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem to you like nothing in comparison? 4 But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord, ‘take courage also, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all you people of the land take courage,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ declares the Lord of hosts. 5 ‘As for the promise which I made you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit is abiding in your midst; do not fear!’ 6 For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. 7 I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts. 8 ‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of hosts.9 ‘The latter glory of this house.”
I believe the writer of Hebrews, who I believe to be Paul the apostle, used Haggai’s prophecy to both warn and encourage the saints about the impending destruction of Jerusalem, the temple, the Jewish way of life, and a multitude of Jewish people in the first century who were in peril and refused to believe the gospel or gospel preachers. I also believe the “latter house” being spoken of is the church Jesus is building. It is the one He said the gates of hell would not prevail over.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, be very careful who you listen to in this season of seeking God. Make sure He sent them to you or has sent you to them. Satan himself can appear as an angel of light. Before his fall he was known as the morning star [ISA 14;12] so he is able to masquerade in who he used to be.
I believe authentic believers’ best days are ahead of us and that is why each of us MUST trust God on a level we never have before. Make sure there is ZERO distance between you and God. Clean any leaven of sin, doubt, unbelief, what is good but not God, etc out of your life and homes. Those of you who have children in the home or are responsible for the welfare of children on any level do all you can to prepare them to trust God like never before.
Trust God and trust only those God says to trust. Your life may depend on it! And, be the kind of trusting person God can depend on so that He can connect others to you.
Peace In!
Receive and steward God’s passion, power, presence, priority, process, promises, protection, provision, pruning, purging, purity, and purpose!
