In the Old Testament Abaddon [destruction] is thought of more as a place. In the New Testament it is thought of more as a person who is the author of all that devastates.
Devastate comes from the latin de ~ thoroughly and vastare ~ lay waste. Jesus said, “The thief comes [continuously] only to steal, kill and destroy. But I have come [once] so that you might have life and have life in abundance.”
We are watching the advancement of devastating storms and events that level entire towns and regions. Families are devastated along with homes, businesses and lives.
What is the source of all this destruction? There are many that lay the blame at the feet of God. Contracts have language in them that actually say, “and acts of God” referring to storms and other “natural disasters.” Is God really to blame for all the carnage? Not if you believe Jesus! “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.” Jesus clearly communicated the devil’s job description and how it is totally the opposite of His.
What is natural about natural disasters? As I said in my first statement, the OT considered Abaddon as place and the NT as person. Destruction is both a place and a person. And both the place and the person are evil at the core.
Not so the place and Person that is the origin and Author of all that is good. “Why do you call me good? There is only One who is good, and that is God.” This was Jesus’ reply when someone tried to butter Him up with praise. “Every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of lights in whom is NO darkness [evil].”
Why all the devastation? “The heavens belong to the Lord but the earth He has given to the sons of men.” I would like to propose that when humans agree with evil in their decisions then that agreement empowers the prince of evil to release out of the place of evil [hell] everything that is horrendous and hideous.
The kingdom of darkness and the Kingdom of Light both operate out of agreements. When men agree with God good is released from heaven [the place of all that is good]. When men agree with the prince of evil then he has permission from the stewards of the planet [people] to bring out of his storehouse [hell] all that is destructive.
For instance, the shedding of innocent blood through abortion or some random act of violence is an act where some human made a decision to take the life of an innocent person. Those types of decisions are actually agreements, or contracts with darkness that permit the author of destruction to release his horror on the planet where other innocent people lose their life.
I know this is a touchy subject but someone has to have the courage to tell the truth. God is not the author of destruction. God does not send storms, fires, earthquakes or some other destructive event to punish people. In fact, God does not send anyone to hell. People send themselves to hell through their free will choice to reject His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
All of us who are in covenant with God the Father through the blood of His only Son Jesus Christ must stop blaming Him for the evils of the world. He is good all of the time.
Goodness is one of fruit of the Spirit. My goodness, how can we who are related by blood to Father God blame Him for destruction. God is not an abusive Father and Jesus is not an abusive Husband.
For HIS Glory!
