The world is getting darker by the second. I was going to say by the day but that is too long. Someone once said “Even a blind squirrel can find an occasional acorn.” This saying reminds me of the dooms day prognosticators of our day. They keep saying it is getting darker and the more they say it the darker their world becomes.

Jesus lived in a fairly dark time in history. The known world was under the iron fist of the great Roman Empire. Religion had replaced relationship with God. The religious hierarchy of His day was illegitimate. They could not see the Light of the world when He was standing in front of them.

Their world was dark because darkness was their worldview. The world they entertained internally became the world they lived in. They created their own dark world. Jesus once described people like them as “the blind leading the blind.” Jesus also said, “If the light that is in you is darkness then how great is that darkness?”

Deception is so . . . . . deceitful!

Listen, you do not have to be a prophet to see the world is getting darker. Jesus never called His people to focus on, or worry about how dark it was [is]. He called His people “the light of the world.” The funny thing about light is that the only way to get rid of it is to turn it off. You don’t get rid of light by turning up the darkness. You get rid of light by . . . . well . . . . getting rid of the light.

“You are the light of the world. Let that sink into your spirit. YOU . . . . ARE [RIGHT NOW not going to be one day] . . . THE . . . . LIGHT . . . . OF . . . .THE . . . WORLD!

Jesus was saying that His people are the world’s answer. We are the solution that is looking for their problem. The problem with most Christians is they have become a part of the problem instead of being the solution they are called [by Jesus] to be.

Jesus said this remarkable statement ~ “Let YOUR light so shine before men that they see YOUR good works and glorify YOUR Father who is in heaven.”

Let = To allow! To give permission! DON’T HINDER!

LET IT GO! LET IT FLOW! Or should I say LET IT GLOW! You are the light of the world.

Your Light = Be yourself [in Christ]! What has Christ placed inside of you? Good question you say! Then ask Him! You were created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which were prepared in advance. There is an advance copy of all that you are destined to do in Him. He will tell you!

The writer of Hebrews said we were to run the race set before us with endurance. If there is a race then there must be a race course. How will we know when we are finished if we do not know the course?

Our race has been set before us. The advance copy of your destiny in Him is with Him. By the way, He is the Light of the world too.

Isaiah the Hebrew prophet said this 800 years before the birth of Christ, so 2800 years before ours ~ “Darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers the peoples.” I said earlier that you did not have to be a prophet to see that the world is getting dark. Well, prophets have already told us it was going to happen. So we know – it is getting darker!

Isaiah did not stop with those words. In fact, those words are SURROUNDED by these words. “ARISE! SHINE! For your light has come and the glory of the Lord is rising upon you. BLAH, BLAH, darkness, BLAH . . . But the Lord will arise upon you and His glory will appear on you. Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising. Life up your eyes round about and see, they all gather together, they all come to you. Your sons will come from afar and your daughters will be carried in the arms. Then you will see and be radiant, your heart will thrill and rejoice, because the abundance of the sea [multitudes of people] will be turned to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. . . . . ”

I love how the Lord does things that are “righteously” sneaky. He is Jehovah Sneaky! Isaiah said God’s light and His glory are upon and continues to come upon His people. Then he says that we will “see and BE RADIANT.” LOL!!!!

How do we get more radiant than we are with His light and glory on us? I will tell you . . . . in another blog!

No, I was just kidding. I believe our radiance is a result of our cooperation with Him in the distribution of His light and glory. Jesus said He and the Father were [are] One. But, He also said that He was the Light of the world. His Light is not separate from the Father’s, but it is His Light. In the same way our light is not separate from His or the Father’s but it is ours by inheritance. He gave us His Light and His glory. It is ours!

An inheritance has to be given or it can never be received.

He called us THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD and He said TO LET OUR LIGHT SHINE!

Why do so many fine Christian people and ministers look at the few lines that talk about darkness when the vast majority of the text has to do with arising, shining, light, glory, revival [reformation] and prosperity?

God has always contained, and overcome darkness with His light.

John said Light came into the world and darkness could not comprehend it. The word comprehend actually means darkness could not overcome the light.

You are the light of the world! Let, do not forbid, allow your light to so shine before men that they see your good works that were prepared in advance for you to do in Christ and that you are discovering even as you read this blog. Then the world will glorify our Father who is in heaven.
